 PICK-A-SOMETHING

“Limbo” by Killstation are where the lyrics are from and I chose it because I feel like it gives the scene of loneliness to the picture especially since she’s the only thing that stands out.

National Geographic Magazine Cover Review

I chose the first one because visual I think it stand out quite a bit. Since most of the background seems to be like a desert seeing the boat with the red flag makes it stand out a lot more than other cover magazines in my opinion.

The second I like quite a bit because it is so simplistic but I catching since the background it black. Having the two object being the center of focus make it stand out a lot.

For the third cover I chose it because I found it interesting and hilarious because it is a guy riding a giant wheel. Aesthetically I look really good because while the main focus which is the guy and a wheel the background it blurred out making it seems like he’s moving fast.

Georgia O’ Keefe Illustration

I find Georgia O’ Keefe artwork interesting because the way I see it is bunch of lines with a variety of colors with no real defining shape. This is what makes it interesting because the more you look at it the more the image changes. At first when I saw it resembled that of a flower but when I took a look at it, it seems more like a pattern you would see on a butterfly.

Cultural Photography Response

This article is about how this man felt out of place while describing his photography and how he finally found that what he shoots fits under “Cultural Photography.” He says that when he searched it up “I found that culture did not mean just remote cultures. There is plenty of culture that exists within cities and densely populated places. The sort of exoticism that dominates photography of tribal cultures does not resonate with me.”

The most interesting facts that I read about were that he was doing something new no one has really heard of and that he expanded the photography world and the ideas people can use when they’re shooting and basically shows that the ideas are endless.

Photojournalism on the Capitol

The job of a photojournalist is to tell a story by using pictures. Rov Haviv captures the event that happened about a year ago which was the raid of the Capitol. he tells this story by giving the reader background information, showing images of inside and outside the building, and what the people during the event were saying. All these things make the story that he is trying very clear. This event itself will go down in history as an impactful one. the event was triggered by the 2020 presidential election when Biden was elected. This event shows how divided the United States is.

A WORK IN THE STYLE OF SANDY SKOGLUND

Sandy Skoglund work is interesting and it is something that I have never seen before. The main thing that attracts the viewer is the contrast with colors between the location and the object. She usually likes to make her object the thing that stands out the most while her background is a more dimmer or dull color. On top of what already makes it interesting is the fact that not all the objects are the same position. She crafts these object herself which could also make this a sculpture artwork.

Wassily Kandinsky

Wassily Kandinsky is an artist that creates lots of abstract work that use lots of different shapes and colors. He was one of the founders of abstract work around the 19th and 20th centuries. Kandinsky was a synaesthete which meant he could “hear colors” and “see sounds” which definitely influenced his artworks. I really like his work, how abstract it is, but it is the fact he could hear colors and see sounds which I find interesting. This is my favorite work of art.

Indeed Job Search

A job I find interesting is sports photography is because I just like sports and it is so fast paced and capturing a moment from a game is amazing. I found that sports photography starting off isn’t hard. A requirement is one year of photography and if school counts towards that then I guess I qualify.

Mrs. Navas is one of my favorite teachers because she’s always seems positive and energetic and that makes her class so fun. She can also be very supportive of every student in her classes. I like that at the start of every week she tells us what is the plan for the rest of the week to get us prepared for what’s going to happen. I like that she goes out of her way to make sure that everyone is doing there best.

This equipment will be useful in capturing photos of wildlife. I think an equipment that stand out here is the Remote Control because it makes capturing wildlife easier than going on into the area yourself and taking the picture.

Social/Political Issue Poster

It think gun violence is something that need to be stopped because I feel like its an issue than can easily be stopped it gun are just handed to anybody. While there are some instances where using a gun is reasonable like in self-defense, most of the time people die for other reasons that isn’t self-defense. I think without guns we could feel safer doing everyday thing out in public.

PETER TELLONE WAS A LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRPAHER. TELLONE BELIEVES LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRPAHY MOVES AT A SLOWER PACE. ACCORDING TO TELLONE, THE PACE IN WHICH A SUBJECT MOVES IN NATURE ARE USUALLY SLOWER, AND MOST OF THE TIME IS MOTIONLESS. FOR TELLONE LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY MOSTLY RELIES ON HOW ACCURATE YOU GET THE PHOTO RATHER THAN THE SPEED, SILENCE, OR SMOOTHNESS. TELLONE’S PHOTOGRAPHY WORK IS MOSTLY CATEGORIZED BY HOW THE LIGHT AND PRESPECTIVE INTERACT WITH THE ENVIRONMENT. HOWEVER, SINCE TELLONE LIVES IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA MOST OF HIS WORK IS BASED OF THE NATURE AROUND HIS HOME. THIS MOSTLY INVOVLES PICTURES OF OCEANS TO DESERTS. HOWEVER, THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR OF TELLONE’S WORK IS PERSPECTIVE. HE SHOOTS LOW AND ULTRA WIDE WITH FOREGOROUND SUBJECTS CLOSE TO HIS LENS. ANOTHER PHOTOGRAPHER IS JEREMY COWART WHO IS INTO CELEBRITY PROTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY. HE HAS A LOT OF WORK THAT YOU WOULD REZOGNIZE IN MAGAZINE SHOOTS OR EVEN ALBUM COVERS. COWART HAS MOST RECENTLY DONE A HOLIDAY ALBUM COVER FOR KELLY CLARKSON. HE FIRST BEGAN AS A GRAPHIC DESIGNER ALONG WITH MANY OTHER THINGS. HOWEVER, HIS MAIN SUCCESS WAS BECOMING A PHOTOGRAPHER. COWART RAN HIS OWN DESIGN COMPANY FOR A WHILE BECAUSE HE PICKED UP A DIGITAL CAMERA AND THOUGHT IT WAS COOL TO SHOOT TEXTURES AND MANY OTHER DIFFERENT THINGS. ONCE HE BEGAN TO TAKE PICTURES OF TEXTURE, HE KNEW THAT BEING A PHOTOGRAPHER WAS SOMETHING HE WANTED TO DO. HOWEVER, HE STARTED OFF WITH A DIGITAL CAMERA SINCE HE WAS NOT AN EXPRIENCES OR TRAINED PHOTOGRPAHER.  STEPHEN FRINK IS AN UNDERWATER PHOTOGRAPHER, AND FOR FRINK BEING AN UNDERWATER PHOTOGRPAHER IS A THRILLING EXPREINCE. THERES SOMEHTING ABOUT SWIMMING NEXT TO A BOAT, DOLPHINES, OR EVEN A SHARK AND CAPTURING THEIR MOVEMNT IS EXHILARATING. HOWEVER, IT CAN ALSO BE EXTERMELY DIFFCULT, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU NEED A LOT OF EXTRA GEAR TECHNIQUES AND PRATICE. STEPHEN IS GREAT AT UNDERWATER PHOTOGRAPHER SINCE HE HAS BEEN DONG IT FOR OVER 30 YEARS. HE HAS SHOT MANY THINGS FROM SPERM WALES TO OLYPMIC SWIMMERS. BEING A PROFFESIONAL HAS GOTTEN HIM MANY JOBS LIKE SCUBAPRO, VICTORIA SECERT, ROLEX, AND AMERICAN EXPRESS. HE’S BEEN ABLE TO SHOOT FOR MANY DIFFERENT MAGAZINES, ADVERTISEMENTS, AND EVEN HIS OWN STOCK PHOTO AGNECY AND HE EVEN HAS A SIDE JOB TEACHING MASTER LEVEL COURSES IN UNDERWATER PHOTOGRAPHY. IN ANOTHER RELATED CATEGORY RALPH LEE HOPKINS PREFERS TO TAKE PICTURES OF WILDLIFE. HOPKINS’ GOAL WHEN IT COMES TO PHOTOS IS TO CHANGE WHAT A PERSON’S MIND THINKS OF WHEN THEY THINK WILDLIFE. ALMOST EVERYONE’S MIND AUTOMATICALLY GOES TO PRANCING DEER, SOARING BIRDS, AND ATTACKING GOFERS. HOWEVER, FOR HOPKINS TAKING PICTURES OF WILDLIFE GOES WAY BEYOND TAKING PICTURES OF DIFFERENT ANIMALS AND SPECIES. HE WANTS TO SHOW THE DIFFERENT CHARACTERISTICS OF THE DIFFERENT SUBJECTS AND THEIR OWN ENVIORNMENT. ALTHOUGH HOPKINS GROWING UP IN NEW YORK CITY HIS INTREST IN WILDLIFE GREW AFTER GOING TO UNIVERSTITY IN AZ. HE WAS ALWAYS AROUND THE GRAND CANYON STUDYING THE WILDLIFE. THIS TRANSITION GREW TO ALSO INCLUDE OTHER LOCATIONS AROUND THE WORLD. EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THESE PHOTOGRAPHERS HAS GREAT AND UNIQUE STYLES OF CAPTURING NATURE.

Tips for better composition

  1. Having a main subject in your photo a great for composition. It gives it a main point of interest. Without a main focal point it probably not catch the interest of you viewers.
  2. Using the rule of thirds can help. The rule of thirds can help you make your image look more balanced. The rule of thirds is really just a guideline.
  3. Using the diagonal principle is another way to balance your image. If all of your points of interest are on one side of the image it makes it look unbalanced. Using the diagonal principle it help prevent this.
  4. Don’t always take picture at eye level. Taking pictures at different angles help give the viewer a viewpoint they normally never see.
  5. Frame the subject. If you frame the subject it makes it standout while also making the image as whole more interesting. It also puts the subject in the context of it surroundings.

Raw vs JPEG

The difference between these two is that a RAW file is a file containing all of the information recorded by your camera’s sensor during exposure. In contrast, a JPEG file is a file that has been compressed by your camera, and does not contain all of the information recorded by your camera’s sensor during exposure.

Exposure

The aperture is what allows how much light goes into your photo by adjusting the size. The shutter speed controls how long or how short the exposure is going into the photo. The ISO speed determines the sensitivity of the camera sensor to allow a certain amount of light.
